I like most everyone else have lived by the mantra of only factory mags, with a few exceptions namely 1911s and AR-15s, but I find it hard to believe that there aren't other companies out there that can produce quality magazines that aren't charging $25+ for a new magazine. I can't imagine it being that difficult to form a quality magazine so long as you use quality springs, metals, and plastics. I'm interested in hearing some other first hand experiences. Though the thought of one's life depending on it when day can incline one to spend the extra money...
Dave, thanks for the link. CTD had them on sale for 9.97 came with 2 mags and a pouch.. I missed that deal, they have G19 mags still for their new price of 14.97. Still fair since it comes with a cheap pouch and 2 mags.
Dirk, I also have used nothing but factory mags. Guess I should have bought more than 10 when they were 10 bucks each. I remember when the high cap mags jumped to 75-150 bucks during the ban. With the mags I have, I am just so curious to try out the knock offs. With the recent sale prices I had hopes to try them out. Thinking someone may have bought them, while not happy with them and pass them on to me a a fair price. The knock off mags have a lot of proving to do before I would trust my life on them.
All in all, I may just go ahead and order some new knock offs. It is going to drive me nuts until I know if they are worth the money. The compared price of 6 to 25 is 4 times less. My money is that quality is 4 times less as well.
I picked up one of the KCI mags at the Charleston gun show last summer for $10. It works fine.
I thought it was a fair price especially when you consider the shipping charges with mail orders for a couple of mags. I'll probably grab a couple more at the upcoming show in Feb.
