You get these idiots with every hurricane. It's just another example that you can't fix stupid.

Sorry, I'm a firm believer in fixing stupid, via Darwin in action. Emergency responders have better things to do for this storm than hang around the beach, or respond to calls for/from these guys. I hate to be this brutal, but if they knowingly put themselves in the situation, then they need to be left to do the proverbial "sink or swim" act. At a certain point you need to start expending your efforts on people who will appreciate the effort, rather than be resentful of it

I agree they should be left to "Sink or Swim" sort-a-speak, To be out there in the path is just plain stupid to begin with. Watching the news yesterday there was a woman they interviewed that live on Ocracoke Island. She had her three kids with her and said that her husband refused to leave and was staying on the island to try and hold everything together, She said something along the line of "we'll get by". That's just plain idiocy, I've been through quite a few of these storms and if your in the path of a direct hit "Run" plain and simple.

Yeah, I wish the emergency workers were allowed to let the dumbshirts remove themselves from the gene pool, but they can't. If they're told to go rescue them they have to try. I don't understand why they haven't closed the beaches and removed themselves of the liability.
Other news, I'm aware of several bars and restaurants in NYC that are offering hurricane discounts and encouraging people to brave the storm to come out and party.
