A while back I was asked what bullets weigh, I thought they were talking about the slugs so I told them to look on the box.
Turns out they wanted to know what the entire cartridge weighed.
After I explained that a bullet was the slug and the assembly was called a cartridge I decided to find out.
The weights were arrived at using a Dillon Precision Digital Reloading Scale
All weights are in Grains there are 7000 grains in a pound.
This is the weight of one entire cartridge.
Simple math will tell you what your load out will weigh.
.556 Military Surplus = 186.3 grains
.223 Federal Commercial = 177.0 grains
7.62x39 Tula = 251.1 grains
12 Gauge Remington Slug = 663.7 grains
12 Gauge Remington 00 Buckshot = 713.6 grains
12 Gauge Federal 7.5 Birdshot = 661.6 grains
10mm Double Tap 135 = 227.0 grains
10mm Double Tap 165 = 255.3 grains
7.62x54 Russian = 362.6 grains
7.62x51 US surplus = 378.2 grains
40 cal Winchester White box 165 = 242.7 grains
40 cal Federal HST 165 = 239.0
