You should get the book if you can, it was outstanding. The movie sticks pretty good to the book, written by the war correspondent that Barry Pepper played(can't remember his name at the moment). He and Colonel Moore did it together and it was a major bestseller. Sam Elliot was awesome in that movie, his role as that old wardog Sergeant Major Plumley was timeless!

Definitely some history that needed to be told of our brave men that served there. Vietnam vets can never get enough of the respect and appreciation that they rightfully deserve in my book.

We Were Soldiers was awesome. I love this line in the movie that Sam Elliot's character said:

Sergeant Ernie Savage: Beautiful morning, Sergeant!
Sergeant Major Basil Plumley: What are you a f!cking weatherman now?
