Well after twenty years of dreaming I finally did it, that's right I bought an AUG. I plan to change it's status from "NIB" to "used excellent condition" today. Wish me luck.

Oh one more - thing I don't care what Henry says I think AUG's are beautiful.

I've always had an interest in these because of the "receiver in front of the magazine" configuration. Does your version have the two stage trigger? Nice addition...

Congratulations Clicker! We all think our children are smart, handsome and pretty. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Any how, sounds like the guys are jealous....as they should be.

Well good news everything went fine today. Only shot maybe 100 rds between the 4 of us that meet up today. The rifle moves around more than I expected since the rig feels sort of heavy to me. This could be due to the ghetto scope set up I'm using plus I probably just need more trigger time. The FN FS2000 didn't leave me with this impression so time will tell. You guys will have to determine if I'm nuts after you test fire her at the spring ShootzenFest.

The rifle is just semi auto so none of that two stage trigger action here. Oh Dave why yes all my children are smart and beautiful thank you for pointing that out.

Lastly I was invited to shoot on private property today which is the reason I didn't post a heads up in the range day thread, otherwise I'd have given ya'll a shout out.

A3 is the variant that doesn't use proprietary magazines and is NATO/STANAG, right?

I've been kicking around the idea for a bit but the reports of the trigger pull make me just want to get an SBR AR with a nice, crisp trigger.

What's the trigger pull like compared to the AR-15 you (should) own?

The A3 is simply the railed flat top version, still uses Steyr mags. They do offer a NATO stock which accepts AR15/M16 mags.

Just so happens this package came with both stocks, five 42 rd AUG mags, three 30 rd AUG mags and three trigger packs. I wish it had an extra barrel but hey I figure I did OK.

The trigger is the weak link it just sucks, a very long heavy pull. I plan to try one of the Neu-Trigger mods on it, most users claim it cuts about 2 lbs off the pull weight.

I ain't gots no pictures cuz I've never set up a picture hosting account so you'll just have to Google it.

Naw just a semi. I have 5.56 FA guns already couldn't justify the cost for a one trick pony much less convince my wife I need another MG.

RANGE REPORT....

I ran up on David at the range last Saturday...He had the AUG out and limbered up...I had to try it...

I HAVE TO STAY WITH MY FIRST OBSERVISION....iT iS uGLY.

bUT...iT iS ALSO A GREAT SHOOTER....I am very impressedwith the smoothness of the gun. I love the gas system. I also love the ease of field stripping...You push 1 button and the barrel just comes out...And, another button and the whole action falls out the back end of the stock..

Dave had not zeroed in the scope, so, couldn't hit broad side of a barn with it...but...I loved it.

Now...The Bad side...That thing is way awful LOUD....the barrel is way closer to your ear than a regular rifle...and...did I mention ...that thing is LOUD...

Dave Did Good Again...

Thanks for the kind words Steve. The AUG is growing on me and with the Vortex 1x4 PST scope it made a world of difference. The larger 30mm tube worked great vs the 1" tube scope I tried first.

The problem is the Vortex is dedicated to my 300 Blackout upper so it was just a trial run on the AUG. I'm gonna stick an Aimpoint on top of it the next time out. Hope to have a new Raptor charging handle soon also.

Thanks for letting my son light off a 44 Mag for the first time! He asked me about that pistol on the ride home.
