IMO I wouldn't recommend Allen Arms. They're ranges filtration system is not up to industry standards and I personally have had bad service there.

Re: Indoor gun ranges in SC

ATP has a good range. Ammo was high (when i bought it there) at the time before Obama so bring your own if you can.

I have used Trader World but the owner was a [email protected]#$% to me in the past....so he will never get my business. They also screwed my friend over on selling his gun and not giving him the money for it. 2 dings too many.

ATP is a good range, but, lots of times they make you shoot only wih ammo you buy from them...

Their prices are pretty high on the ammo...

I've shot at ATP and I've never had to buy their ammo to shoot my own weapons. I basically spend $6.00 when I go there. I'm not thrilled with their prices on firearms but then I'm stingy as hell. I do like the range set-up. I'm scared to death when I look at the bullet holes in the partitions but none are through to the other side.

Surely there are some indoor ranges that someone would recommend?

I like the range at ATP. The range was fairly comfortable to shoot. I was working on a Rigarmi Brescia .22 pistol and I took it to ATP to test fire it. I like the shooters box to be well lit.

I've also been to the Range on Cross County Road. I shot just fine there. I've been there more than any other indoor range in the Low country area. It is a quick trip and I don't have to go in the gunshop at all if I don't want to.

so, who would you recommend?

Sorry Pops. I wasn't not recommending ATP's range. I enjoy going there and it is the best indoor range in these parts. I purchase notions and nonesuches there if I don't want to wait. I've even found some good deals there. You just have to be patient. As far as gunshops, I haven't met but one gun shop in this area that I couldn't enjoy because of the owner so I just don't go there. Others may get along just fine.
Just a thought, Dave

Palmetto Gun Club has it all :)
We don't sell ammo or gun parts so no arguments there.
We have a darn good outdoor long gun range out to 800 yards and 10 pistol bays.
We host all kinds of rifle and pistol events for members to get involved in too.
The road to the club is now paved also! ;)

I joined up at Trader World. It's a decent range that isn't too far away, and if I want, gun rental is free (with a membership). The only thing I don't like is the no-rapid fire rule. They've also got ammo if I don't already have my own. I've bought 4 weapons from the store on the other side and have always had a good experience.

I never liked the prices at ATP, so I rarely make the drive out there and always get stopped on my way

The last couple of times I was driving out to ATP to have a look around, I've stopped off at East Coast Guns. I have nothing but good things to say about them. They're always friendly and extremely helpful. The two times I've spoken with the owner, he was always very pleasant and helpful.

That's the extent of my experience with gun stores down here.

I'll stick with Boggy Head for shooting, internet for buying accessories & cmponents and HHB for FFL needs. ATP, yeah, I use them for what NOT to pay. Trader World seldom has anything I am interested in. Unfortunately, the others are hit and miss.

I used to go by coastal in wando, off clements ferry. Their prices were always fair to me. NFA too. They didn't have a range though.

Sounds great but you have to be 'recommended' before you can join and at around $100 per month, its a bit too pricey for me. I would LOOOOOVE to shoot there though. I am so tired of 100 yard rifle ranges or pistol ranges where you cannot shoot and move.
