So I recently got a new job that pays better than my old job as well as being a good step in the right direction for me. So I rewarded myself by ordering a personal favorite of mine, a Ruger Blackhawk Convertible .357/9mm single action revolver with the 4.62" barrel. I'm a big fan of single action revolvers, probably because I've seen WAY too many John Wayne movies, I take that back there's no such thing as too many. But anyway combine that with the awesome versatility of .357 Magnum, .38 Special, and 9mm and I'm all over it. My uncle has a 6.5" model that's older than I am and I loved shooting it.

Figure 9mm makes for great range use and I can keep it loaded with .357 Magnum Gold Dot in case the zombies come and my Mossberg 500, SKS, Glock 19, and Beretta 92F run out of ammo  or I suppose in the more likely scenario camping or hiking lol.

Pictures to come after I get it, should be about 12 days as I see it. Should get shipped next day to my FFL tomorrow than of course the ten day California wait

That's another great addition for you Dirk! That waiting period sure is a royal pain though, eh? I take it that you chose the standard blued version instead of a flashier finish. Nice choice of barrel length, I always thought they felt more balanced that way. Can't wait to see it!!!

Very Nice
Most of us grew up watching John Wayne and Clint Eastwood.
There were lessons to be learned there.

I Ruger BH 357 was the first pistol that I owned.
They are great guns and very fun to shoot.

Hope you get it soon.

Nice pick up, congrats.

How stupid is a waiting period? I guess they think you have a duel coming up and dont want you to have your SA revolver until you cool down from that guy spilling your whiskey.

I can see where some people would think a waiting period was important.
It is totally negated though when you already have guns.
Especially if you already have guns more suited for defensive purposes than the one you are buying.

Picked up the Ruger today and put some rounds down range. Of course the sights are off a bit and I didn't think to bring a screw driver, so all of my shot groupings were consistently to the left. Shot both 9mm and .357 Magnum through it, both performed as expected. Also shot the Glock 19 and just started destroying paper, good times were had by all. My uncle also brought out an old favorite of mine, his father's Smith Wesson 28-2 Highway Patrolman .357 Magnum, gotta love the gun that started the .357 Magnum (well the Model 27 did but the 28 is pretty much the same thing).

I'll post pics tomorrow when I charge the camera's battery and clean the guns.

Very Kool!
You know I wonder how sights are set at the factory?
Windage by eye and elevation all the way down then 6 clicks up?
I cannot remember the last time I shot my 28.
