One of my buddies at work is offering to sell me his Smith Wesson M&P .45 thumb safety model for $400. He's turned off by the price of .45 and wants a 9mm now. Don't really have any burning desire to own the gun I'm a Glock guy and a 9mm one at that, but I'd hate to see the gun go to an unfit home so for the sake of the child (err I mean gun) I'm considering buying. Who knows I may fall in love and sell my Glock, than again hell may freeze over too. But if nothing else it's a new toy that I could eventually trade for something on my want list, that's a long list so some trading pieces aren't a bad idea. I figure it'll make a good car gun that I won't go crying over if something happens to it.

Thoughts anyone? Seem like a good price? That's about the price I would pay for a used Glock so that's what I'm basing my thoughts on.

Thumb safety would turn me off. And thats hard to do- Ask my wife.

But I digress,.. if you are a Glock guy do you really want this? M&Ps are awesome, but they are not Glocks.Think long and hard about buying something because its good trade fodder, i have bought stuff under the same guise and its not a logical option unless you don't mind keeping it. If you buy a smith revolver fro 200 and trade ti for 300 worth of goods fine- if you buy a smith auto and trade it for the same amount of goods 3 weeks later after a lot of hastle with buyers you have lost money- and no one likes that.

Either way- Buy a gun. you have $400. I'd most likely blow cash on a 22 upper but hell, a glock is always awesome. Either way, Pics or it didn't happen.

Not sure how old it is, can''t be that old though that particular model came out in 2007. It comes with two mags and a couple of boxes of ammo. I think it only has about 200-300 rounds in it and I'd place it at 95% gun has hardly been shot since he bought it.

I agree about the thumb safety, I don't like safeties on striker fire guns.

As to really wanting it, no I can't say I want it but I'm all about trying new things and there seems to be great following for these new striker guns so there must be a reason. I don't really want to box myself into Glocks and not try something new that I could have had for a good deal just cause it "wasn't a Glock". If I don't like it it's not as if it's a brand new gun that I'll be taking a huge loss on if I want to off load it.

Not a huge fan of the .22 upper idea for the Glock. For that money I'd rather buy a stand alone .22. The next gun on my list is actually a Ruger MKIII bull barrel target so I can plink on a weekly basis without putting big bucks down range.

I took a M&P .45 intrade a few years ago...I wasn't to excited about it, but,,,the rest of the trade was good...
I took the M&P to the range a couple of weeks later...and, to my suprise it was a great shooter...
You should take it and shoot it...I think you will be looking at it in a new light...

Of course...mine didn't have the saftey on it...

I also had a M&P 9mm that I bought new...I loved that gun...It ws as accurate as the shooter...I traded it off...and traded back for it 2 times...before I finally had to let it go for good...

I figure one of these days I will have another M&P 9mm...or .45
