Does anyone know what kind of targets we can use for the range at Shootzenfest?

I wanted to drive 2 pieces of rebat into the ground and drop 2x4's over them. Then, screwed plywood to that for pape target mounts....

Do you think that would be a problem....

Redbat? I don't think your allowed to do something that big but if you could make something smaller out of rebar I would think that would be ok. Another DNR range I go to up here has rules against portable target stands but they have their own.

Don't know steve but according to the NRA Range building guide if your shooting targets closer than 100 yards on a 100 yards range you should put the target stand tall enough so that the bullet still passes through the target and hits the berm at 100. They say that bullets that strike the ground at an angle will skip well over the berm and keep on going for miles pending velocity. This is why Palmetto has skip berms every 100 yards on our 800 range so that bullets hit the 2ft skip berm and dont go outside the 800 berm. This has been an ongoing fight and discussion at our meeting for years is people who bring a 2' plastic real estate sign and shoot an ak into it at 35 yards. The person is standing 5' tall shooting down into something 2' tall at 35 yards is a ground stike at 50 yards which skips over the berm. Now that neighborhoods are being built behind the range it has become a safety issue. Our rule at the range now is the target has to be atleast 5' tall to impact the berm. Just useless knowledge but something to think about.

If I remember correctly they mention Paper targets only. They get upset it you shot at trash on the range. And by upset, I mean 200.00 fine by the local DNR game warden.
I know of no restrictions on target stands.

What I had in mind was 2 rebar uprights about 2.5' high with 2 2x4's between them and plywood being no taller than 3 feet. Then we would screw the plywood to the 2x4" and attach targets to the plywood...

I just don't want to do anything to make anyone mad...and I will not leave any trash...

Why don't we just cut up some 2x4's and dado a slot in them to hold up the plywood. You've seen how I do this for my target stands. It's simple to make and easy to transport plus no metal involved.

Let me know if I can help Steve.

I'm ready to shoot some stuff! Should I bring some more balloons or will you guys tear through them with your full autos again? I've been trying to think of other cool stuff that wont be destructive to shoot..any ideas?

the times I have shot there, homemade target stands are fine.

Not that you wouldn't do this, but I would just say to pack out what you bring in. When you clean up your "mess" the rules always seem to favor you. At least that is my experience.
