 Here's some of the "highlights" of the article...$#*% this makes me mad!!!

Because he only asked for $1, Verone was charged with larceny, not bank robbery. But he said that if his punishment isn't severe enough, he plans to tell the judge that he'll do it again.

Then he plans to spend a few years in jail, before getting out in time to collect Social Security and move to the beach.
Verone also presented the view that if the United States had a health-care system which offered people more government support, he wouldn't have had to make the choice he did.

As it is, Verone said he thinks he chose the best of a bunch of bad options. "I picked jail."

Mad at the guy, or mad at the position he is in?

I'm going to be 49 in less than 6 months. If it wasn't for my wife's insurance, I would be totally shafted right now. Even with it, it has changed for the worse with coverage becoming less every year. The country is getting so screwed up that desperate people are making choices like this guy. Pretty bad that healthy people on welfare get taken care of better than people who have worked all of their lives since getting out of school.

A little of both. I'm mad that this guy can't get the help he needs (but we spend trillions helping Haiti and saving polar bears! ), and I'm mad that he felt this was the only recourse available, because I feel strongly it was a very bad choice. He traumatized the teller (my mother in law works at a bank and we are friends with all the ladies she works with, and they were held at gun point last year. Some of them are still getting over it. To me this is not something to treat lightly.) and is now receiving care at the tax payer's expense with no repercussions for his actions.

He was forced into a situation where he had to make a choice, and he made a bad one. Another thing that makes me angry is that he admitted he will do it again.

I agree with you; things are getting worse and hard working people are getting screwed, but this guy didn't find a solution for his problem; he just shouldered it financially onto the rest of us.
