I really like what I saw in the Magpul MS2 sling. But I'm not willing to spend $50 on a few feet of strap and a couple of clips. So what is one to do? Make one yourself.

I am going to post up my trial on making this. Just for the record I do have an Engineering background so I hope this won't be too hard. So lets start.

First off I am going with 1" heavy Polypropylene straps, a couple of HK clips, a plastic strap adjuster and a steel d-ring. I have purchased all this from http://www.strapworks.com/ and bought enough to screw it up 4 times  . Now I just need to wait to get all this in.

Here is what I purchase for $25 plus some changed shipped to my house. I need to find some polypro string for the wifes sowing machine though. Online (not a deep search) I only found very large spools. Going to see what I can find at Tractor supply or walmart.

I took a trip to Michaels. They didn't have anything strong enough for thread. They recommend Hancock. So this is what I have so far.

Found out I'm not a seamstress. But, it still looks good.

Done with the easy part. Now on to the hard part. My prototype does work...mostly. Yes that's a lot of string and extra strap. It's a prototype ;)

It appears that you need to use just a regular strap adjust where you pull for adjusting. The plastic one that I'm using has some teeth to them and I think that there is too much friction between the plastic and the strap. Will see if I can find some black ones somewhere.

On a good note: It works. Just real hard to tighten back up.

Well, haven't worked on this since my last post. Turns out the plastic slide for the easy adjustment has to much friction. I also noticed the shorting the MS2, from the videos on youtube, took a little more effort. So I decided to try a different route.

Will work on this a little more today and over the weekend. I'm joining a rifle club this month.

Wow...the casted slides make a huge difference. Once I get this rig sewed up I will post up some pictures. It works better than I thought.
