The most authentic mexican you can get in the Lowcountry. You have to walk through a small tienda/butcher shop/seafood shop to get to the restaurant. Awesome cuts of meat and seafood in the tienda if you are just looking for some grub to cook at home...

But the real prize is the food in the restaurant. You can just close your eyes and point at the menu...it will be good whatever you get. The burritos are fantastic though. Go for the namesake "La Nortena" burrito with steak and you'll be back for sure...

Absolutely agree. Santi's Downtown is very good too, but La Nortena is the best Mexican I've ever found. I've never had a bad meal here, but in particular I like the Fajitas Mexicano, Carnitas Enmoladas, and the Ceviche. The tacos and tortas are also top notch here but I'll often get those from one of the road-side stands that have started popping up here and there.

Yeah, I talked to Ceasar this week about that. He said that they are getting so much business, they needed the grocery space for more seating. I told him that was a testament to how good his food was and that was a "good" problem to have! You have me wanting a burrito now...
