I hate to generalize about politics and guns, but the OP is on to something. There is a pretty wide spectrum, but I have generally found anything left of center to be less gun friendly. Not 100% mind you, but the trend is certainly there.
Now, I don't suggest this lightly, but if you want to see how some left leaning people feel about guns, their owners, the NRA, etc. go to the Huffington Post and search "guns". I'm sure their are staunch Republicans who don't like guns either...but the left certainly owns the anti-gun movement.
Below is a link to an article about a photo book about women and guns (looks awesome, btw). If you look at the comment section at the bottom of the page, please be aware that there is some pretty caustic feelings from anti-gunners. You will also see a staunch group of commentators who come armed with facts to defend the 2nd Amendment, and they will make you proud. This is one of dozens of articles I have read and observed over there, and they all pretty much look like this. Additionally, the HuffPo gave Dennis Hannigan (Brady campaign) a WEEKLY column for a while, so...yeah..
Seriously, if you read the comments prepare to have your intelligence, sexuality, courage, and faith berated. However, it can be important to be reminded that there are folks who think we are basically lesser beings because of our thoughts on guns.
