I went 100% E-ATF

I took the plunge and spent $4000 last week on desktops, tablets, and software to go 100% E-ATF. My inspector informed me that I am doing just as many transfers as ATP and if I didnt make the switch my audit would be a nightmare. All I can say is today was the first day running it and it is the best thing ever. I have never seen such a smart system.

You show up, grab a tablet, fill out the online form, submit it to my server, I process it, Do an E-background check and you E-sign and your outta here. Just that simple...They currently have an I-phone app and an android app will be out in 3 weeks so you don't have to use my tablets. You can also go to http://aimiebook.net/signup.php and sign up for a member account and then when you show up you log onto to your account, pick hhb to handle the transfer and the form will be already filled out and submitted to my server as you are walking up to my shop.

So far ATF told me I was the first to take the plunge and I can't believe I didn't do it sooner.

Congrats!!

Not that I distrust the government...cough, cough....But, How would not having this system make it a nightmare when you're the first to get on it?

They only suggested I go with some sort of e-log book to better help with inventory accq & Disp for audits. I don't do anything half ass so I found software to do everything so I jumped in head first. The price for the POS software was just as much as this software and this did everything. All of my forms, customers, reports so it was a no brainer.

Congrats man, I know you had your hands full getting set up the other day. Glad you got it all functioning. I'm sure it'll help take some of the headache out of it.

Frank is the shiznit. He has gone above and beyond the call of duty to get me up and running. Nights and weekends, remote log ins, so forth...He has personally called me 3 times when I called him.. Customer Service is top notch! I am paying for the $99 a month support plan which I feel is well worth it.

Henry - just to verify for certain of those out there that may still be wondering - we do NOT have to fingerprint each time we transfer with you now like you oriignally thought - is that right?

YOU are paying $99 a month to implement something that shouldn't be done at all.The sale of knives, baseball bats and automobiles is not subject to such scrutiny so why should firearms? The aforementioned items kill people each day .
The form 4473 on page three lists the description, serial number and make of the firearm being transferred. When you fill out a paper 4473 this info does NOT get transmitted to the ATF but is retained in the FFL dealer's file.Does it get transmitted to ATF on the E version? If so then the ATF is amassing an inventory of your firearms which is not the case with a paper 4473.In my estimation this would be an invasion of privacy.
I don't mean to rain on your parade but I am just leery of the ATF,ergo the government, getting any more info than they absolutely need when they shouldn't be getting it in the first place .

Correct.. At this point no. SC is not a fingerprint state..I had to disable that feature in the software. The northern states have that requirement.

I am paying $99 to make my life easier and provide a faster way to get you your guns. ATF knows no more about your guns than the paper 4473 way. I still maintain all the records. Now of course they can inspect all they want just like they can if I wasn't using the system. The only difference than before I was using it is it keeps better faster search feature when I am called by the atf, it does an E-background check INSTEAD of a phone call (all the same info is input as the call), and the form is filled out on the computer for my records vs. filling out a hand written form ( which eliminates all common mistakes people make when hand writing it). Nothing more does it do.

So are you telling me that with the "E" version that ATF does NOT get firearm description and serial number?
If the answer is that they don't then I feel somewhat better about it.
I still staunchly maintain that there should ne no form 4473 or background check to buy a firearm just as there is not one for a baseball bat, butcher knife, etc.
I was warned today that posting my beliefs on an internet forum is not a wise idea since it is felt that ATF monitors gun forums.
I really could care less. They are an illegal and unnecessary part of our government.I will abide by the law but do not have to like it.

Stan the ATF and many other far worse Gov. agencies do monitor all internet activity especially gun forum's. We Lost on 9/11 but also the Gov. took away many of the right's of the citizen's who abide by the Law's of man. The Constitution is attacked daily by obama and his people..."a key word is a hit on anyone monitoring"...but i could careless myself...see you soon...
