Thanks every one for all the support.
I would like to shoot anything I can. I love the experience.
I have a question. I have been talking to a few cops in the area about the idea of getting my CWP. One of them said that there are so many places that you cannot take your gun into and since you don't have to have the CWP to carry one in your car, I shouldn't even worry about having it, just get a gun and keep it in my car. What do yall think on that?

I disagree with the police officer. I honestly can not think of any reason not to get your permit, providing that you can pass the background check and are old enough. Yes, there are places where you're not allowed to carry a weapon, but if you don't have your permit you aren't allowed to carry your weapon at all. I'm surprised that the officer recommended that you not get your permit, perhaps next time you should ask him where most women are attacked, robbed etc, in their car or in the parking lot on their way to/from their car? If I have my weapon on me I can handle the situation a lot faster than I can if I have to run to my car for it or back into the building for help. When someone is trying to hurt you, time is absolutely of the essence.
Places where you're not allowed to carry your weapon such as the dmv, the court house, schools, etc are not places that I consider high crime and I only visit them during the day so I pop my gun into the glove box and park as close as I can. As for businesses that have no weapons allowed signs, there are very strict rules that the business must follow for their signs to be compliant, if they do not follow those rules they are not enforceable and we are not required to disarm ourselves. If they see your weapon they can ask you to leave and you have to do so, but if you keep your concealed weapon concealed it shouldn't be an issue. Perhaps the police officer does not realize that the majority of "no weapons allowed" signs are not compliant? There's a sticky thread in the CCW forum (
http://www.palmettoshootersforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=151) that lists some of the places that have compliant signs and also details exactly what the signs must look like, where they must be placed, etc.
The most common places that I go where I cannot take my weapon are restaurants that serve alcohol. It's really not that big of a deal, if you're going to drink alcohol you won't have your weapon with you and if you're not going to drink go someplace that doesn't serve alcohol or don't take it inside. There's legislation proposed to change that anyway, let's hope it passes.
