Schultz -
Next time you come to a show in SC drop by and say hi! I'd love for you to buy me a coffee (lol).
Ok all kidding aside - this show rocked for us! We didn't set any records but we did move quite a few milsurps, handguns, and ammo as well. Saturday was gangbusters & Sunday was pretty good as well. Some of my FFL friends were there and they seemed to have a really good weekend as well.
I had some initial reservations about this show:
1) Spartenburg SC was misspelled (should be Spartanburg).
2) I 'heard' that there were some security issues. When I inquired into it they assured me that their security was SLED certified. What the??
The bad:
1) Very, very small venue.
2) Too many folks selling trinkets and crap like that (not enough dealers).
3) The Fairgrounds in Spartanburg is in the projects.
4) ZERO police presence. Man I don't know about you...but I want to see a cop at a gun show! It's almost as if seeing a cop at a gun show legitimizes the venue??
5) I didn't see any AR's for sale?
The good:
1) They had good advertising (2743 tickets sold on Saturday & 1300+ sold on Sunday). Talk to any promoter: 4000+ attendence is great!
2) We met some new friends.
3) Business was awesome, we sold plenty of milsurps, AR lowers, LPK's, and plenty of ammo. Great cell phone reception and my wireless CC machine functioned as advertised.
4) Cheap lunch, $1 soda's, & $1 bottled water.
Conclusion: A tiny venue & not enough gun dealers! They are having a show in Columbia next month and one in Greenville in March. Let's see what happens?
