From Nikki's facebook page:

"[W]hile the governor supports expanding the rights to carry concealed weapons, 'they need to be expanded for everyone. Governor Haley will not support special privileges for legislators.'"

Go Nikki!

Sounds like she is sticking to her "Guns" from their last attempt. She's starting off great!

March 3rd, 2010

Columbia, SC ? Rep. Nikki Haley today announced her opposition to House Bill 4112. This bill would expand the ability of public officials who possess a Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP) to carry their weapons in areas where the general public cannot.

Haley, a CWP permit holder herself whose staunch support for gun rights has earned her a lifetime ?A? rating from the National Rifle Association, remarked, ?The state legislature was elected to represent the people of this state, not the special interest and convenience of themselves. This type of arrogance has to stop.?

?Instead of giving perks to elected officials, we should be passing a law that expands the carrying rights of every citizen of South Carolina,? Haley added. ?If the current laws are an inconvenience to legislators ? which they undoubtedly are ? they are an inconvenience to everyone. It?s time that legislators stop treating themselves as a privileged, ruling class, and start working to benefit all South Carolinians.?

If the bill makes it to the House floor, Haley will introduce an amendment to change H. 4112 so that every CWP holder in South Carolina is covered by its provisions.

Time will tell although she has impressed me so far. The fact that she openly stated that she hated unions was a great first step.

So far so good. She has stuck to her convictions on a number of issues so far. She may actually have a spine unlike many repubs.

She had no choice. The only reason SC is attracting so many new companies - Is because of NO unions! And the state legislature will give what is here, no power. I heard they were going to change the name of North Charleston to - Boweingville.

Everyone always has a choice. This is not the "only" reason companies are coming to SC. There are many unions in SC. They're just not as bad as most up north. They are coming here because Haley and others before her have paved the way to make SC look good to businesses. SC is one of the most business friendly states in the country at number 8 out of 50. http://chiefexecutive.net/best-worst-states-for-business

The woman definitely impresses me! Why should legislators be special? They want guns, but they don't want US to have them.

The elitist mindset many politicians and people with money have. Common snobs.

Don't forget - the bill did get ammended and EVERYONE with a CCW can keep their gun in the glove box while parked in the State Capital parking lot. True to her work - No special percs for Legislators.
