Today the hubby and I went to the mall to get some mommy necessities, and I was carrying my Glock in my crossbreed holster. A very pleasant older female sales clerk was helping me with said necessities, and came into the dressing room to check the fit and see if I needed a different size or not (I wasn't wearing my top, so the butt of my gun was showing.) She stepped behind me to do some adjustments, and I was thinking in my head "Oh crud, here we go. I'm carrying in the Haywood Mall, surrounded by sheeple and this woman is gonna freak..." but as I watched her I never saw her even look at my gun. I don't know if she just didn't see it, or if she saw it and decided it wasn't a big deal, but I was surprised and pleased with her lack of reaction and continued friendliness. Initially I didn't think she was going to enter the dressing room, and when she did I tried to keep my back turned away from her, but it turned out not to be an issue. Yay!!!

Either way, she acted with a fine degree of professionalism- and you were behaving like a law abiding citizen does, not some nervous criminal. By being at ease I am sure that helped her be at ease.

Nice encounter, a story with a happy ending!

she may have been packin' herself. Chances are she would like to have had a private conversation with you about it. People who carry seem to be more level headed than most who don't. I worked on my job for years and never heard anyone talk about anything but hunting rifles, then one day I mentioned I had my CCP and people came out of the woodwork to talk guns. I usually take my newest acquisitions to work to show some of the guys, I've bought a Ruger Pistol from the man who owns the company. I'm taking my new Bersa tomorrow to show one of the salesmen. "I see gun people" ;)

Lol, well its funny because several months ago I was in that same store and a different older lady was helping me, and we somehow got on the subject and she told me she was packing a revolver in her purse! So maybe... :)

I did talk to her about it, and she had her cwp, but I think it was prohibited because she worked there, that or she thought she had to follow the non-compliant signs posted at the mall entrance. We chatted for about 30 minutes & I would have gone back just to visit with her, but she & her family were moving back to Montana. :(

I had the same thing happen in Tanger Outlets, N. Charleston and while the lady did not gasp, she did give me the "deer in the headlights" look.... I explained to her that I am a firearms instructor and that I had my CWP and she was very intrigued and inundated me with questions... so before I left she had my business card. :D

Great thread. I was packing at that Tanger outlet a few weeks ago. We made the wrong turn trying to find the place and the area the wife and I ended up in made me glad I had a gun on me.
