A friend and I were at the Boggy Head outdoor range in the Francis Marion forest today.
2 guys were there firing full auto "stuff"...they had lots....MP 5's, 10/22's. and AR15's....Good times...

We were firing my AR with the new Colt upper that I just got...
We were knid of just talking back and forth with the guys. They reload all their own brass, so I told them that I didn't reload so they could have the brass I was firing...so, they picked up my brass...

I fired a 30 round mag off in the AR real quick...just playing around. When I reach to change mags, one of the guys was standing there. He said "got any more .223"?

I said I had one more full mag. Then he said...."Here, try full auto" and handed me his Bushmaster in full auto.....My mag full lasted about 20 seconds.....OH MY GOD....I am hooked.....

Anyone want to buy 2 trucks, a Harley Davidson, 2 Kimber 1911's, other assorted guns and anything else I can sell....I want FULL AUTO.....

No, not really. I have fired the 3 round burst and stuff, but, this was my first full auto...It was great, but, I am a poor man....and, I have a life...

But, I really does make me want to start reloading my own .223's and 45's...
Anyone got a reloader set-up cheap....Basic stuff...I have to save money for that $4000.00 lower for full auto....and, then the Governmemt red tape.....

Just kidding, but, it was fun....

Oh it gets addicting. Myself I'm saving up for a silencer. ;) There's a FA shoot at Philsons range
in Clinton every year. Bring ammo and they will let you shoot what they have

This is a FA and silencer shoot we had back in may and some of the Philsons shoot :D

I've fired full auto twice...

the second time was an accident- the sear busted on a Mossberg .22LR semiauto and emptied the whole tube of ammo when I pulled the bolt back and let go. Good thing I had it shouldered and pointed downrange at the time.

The first time was in Boy Scouts. We were spending a weekend at a National Guard base. While checking out the ranges, a soldier was practicing/qualifying on M60 use. He was using 6 round belt segments for each section of the targets, firing from a prone position on the bipod. I hung around with him and a range officer there, breaking up a box of 7.62 into the smaller segments for them. Had fun just doing that, being 11 or 12 at the time. When he was done, he spoke to the range officer for a moment and then asked me if I wanted to try firing one segment of ammo.

Probably the coolest thing I ever got to do as a kid- even beats out a lot of things in my entire life!

Fired full auto many times over the years in my Army career, alway fun. M2 .50 cal is the only one for me. Used it against Iraqi positions during the first gulf war. Got to fire a full-auto AK-47 my last trip to Iraq while providing security for some civilian contractors training Iraqi police at a pistol range. I love the advances the US has made with the M-16 but I'd probably carry an AK in battle over the M-16 if I had the opportunity, very nice-shooting weapon.

I'm lucky enough to shoot FA when ever I want. If you see someone shooting FA just walk up to them and talk to them about the gun. Most folk that own them are more than willing to let you play with their toys as long as you feed it and treat it with respect. Heck, some people will even let you shoot their ammo. It's a great feeling to see the rush on someone's face that has just shot a FA for the first time.

I've bump fired my AR a few times. Can't hit a thing. Cool yes but wouldn't want to use it in a real situation.
Can you really keep an AR on target in full auto? Just asking since I haven't fired full auto for real.

What's your range to target and how small are your bursts? I'll just say it has it's place and can be effectively utilized if the situation calls for it.

With the 16 you can keep a couple shots on target, more if you use a suppressor depending on the range. With a full size MP in 9mm you can eat up a target assuming your talking no more that 25 yards and the target is full size.

Jeff I think that Steve was referring to you and me in his OP. I believe you were the one that handed him your M16 that day.
Cuz you're just so nice that-a-way!
