Fastest ccw belt draw is too slow, really

i doubt anyone can out draw some one pointing a gun at you. the draw is over.

now you have to put your finger in his barrel so he cant fire then draw on him.

you cant out draw someone who comes up behind you and takes your gun,
so keep an eye on your right rear around people.

you do what you can do. i cant sit with a Colt 1911 Government Model in my front pocket.

I carry a gun in my front pocket pointed forward. If I need to, I bypass the draw entirely and shoot through the front of my pants. It's 13/16ths of a second faster.

Well, if you KNEW anything about the construction of modern day trousers, you wouldn't waste all that time and just shoot through the front of them. :)

i hate to ask, not trying to be mean, but how old are you? asking swiss

im always yelling at the tv, dont start talking now, SHOOT.

gunfights dont turn into a conversation.

you lose me everytime with the times and fractions. if i point a gun at you there will be a bullet coming out of it before you pull a gun on me, no conversation.

if you pull a gun on me and start talking then ill do whatever i can to not get shot. it has happened. i grabbed the bbl of an AR coming out of a car window pointed at me. there was nothing he could do. i had the leverage. he didnt fire, dont know why unless he wasnt ready to kill me, or because i put my hand on my COLT 45 and told him that was a stupid thing to do.

SWISS i understand the point your trying to get across.with that said letts play nice! no reason to get bent out of shape because some body has a diferent view than you do.everyone has there own personal preference on the way to cw carry. i personaly carry a RUGER LCP in a pocket holster most of the time. the main thing is to go get your cwp then find a pistol and carry system your comfy with and practiece with the combo at the range a lot make it just as normal as brushing your teeth.then i think you have given your self the best chance to keep the bad guy from killing you,but there is no %100 efective way to keep the bad guy from hurting you.remember when under stress people shoot high, move away from bad guy left/right make your self as small as possible all while drawing your firearm.if the bad guy is in your face push him away with FORCE draw your firearm.thats my plan is it %100 efective?prob not. is there any plan that is %100 nope!

If you read the NRA's Armed Citizen and Dept of Justice's Annual Crime Survey, you'd know that 2 out of 3 attacks are NOT made with a gun. If you shoot a man who is trying to surrender or flee, you're probably going to prison, and that's CERTAINLY where you BELONG for doing such a thing. Once I get a Weaver on you, you're doing nothing but flee or get shot, multiple times. As to the shooting thru the pants pocket thing, what you gonna do, get your knee up by his shin, so that firing down your leg hits his chest? If that's the best you can do in the way of a rebuttal, best keep your ignorance to yourself.

sorry real people, i cant help myself.

pardon me if my ignorance tells me that pulling the trigger on a gun in my pocket will set off a fireball that will not feel good burning my balls and that there is a chance the bullet is going to slice all the way down my thigh to my knee then, in the case of 380, not even hurt you.

To be fair, action beats reaction. Even if your opponent has the drop on you and is holding you at gunpoint, if you decide to draw and fire then the adversary has to recognize what you're doing, adjust his mindset, make a decision to pull the trigger, then press. This is known as "action-reaction" or "decision-response" time.

Here's an interesting study about it:
http://www.povn.com/4n6/RctnTm.pdf

The average LEO took 0.895 seconds to pull the trigger in a "complex" scenario when they started "pointed in" with the finger on the trigger. Finger off the trigger adds another third of a second or so. An average reaction time of 1.5 seconds is not unreasonable as an estimate. The mechanical act of shooting is shorter, but there is time required to make the decision.

So, if you can create a "complex" situation (with words, distraction, movement, etc) and act with sudden violence of action I think you have a fighting chance of getting a hit on target before the foe can react, depending on their level of training, mental alertness, equipment, etc. Even with a belt rig.

They aren't great odds and there's a good chance you'll get shot at too but it isn't "unwinnable."

Try some reading comprehension chief. I clearly said that I carry a gun in my front pocked pointed forward. In case you missed it, I'll quote it for you:

Now, obviously this is a joke. I do not carry a gun in my pocket, and I am not going to shoot through my expensive track pants. It was intended to point out how silly looking those are who start threads on the interwebz to demonstrate how smart they are. If you know anyone like that, tell them you carry a gun in your pocket and see if they laugh at your joke, or if they completely miss it and think you are just making fun of them. Have a nice day :D

I don't know how you guys do it, but my 1911 just magically teleports to my hand whenever I draw it.

Actually, I know my draw is very slow. I am usually in my dress clothes with a IWB tuckable holster. So I have to pull the shirt out of the way, THEN draw. :?

No, no, the briefcase is to shield your head. You ducttape the trauma plates to your chest.
