Ok guys we need to figure out a date. It looks like it's gonna be a two parter since Philsons will not allow grillin but it will be a blast as in lots of FA toys hopefully. I'm still ironing out the details and will announce them when they are confirmed but we need to decide on a date first. So what cha think?

That's what we need to figure so I can organize the rest. I do know one thing it's gonna have to be cooler maybe late Sept or Oct?

This one will be upstate...Just haven't figured out where yet, or....when...

Steve

I have the where just need to agree on the when. The where is Philson crossroads http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Phils ... s&state=SC The issue is the BBQ end of it since DNR has stated no grillin there so we will have a separate part for that. I can tell you guys that there will be shop participation for this one with some cool FA toys and as soon as a date is decided and I can relay that then I can speak on the rest.

October 9th sounds like a good day to me!

So the next question is what time?

Also,
What's the name of the range? Looking at Philston Crossroads on the arial map it's kind of in an open area.
Is the range on private property? or a commercial range? any fees to shoot?
would they object to having cold drinks in a cooler? (non-alcoholic of course)
I think I've heard you talk about this range before. Is this the one you can shoot from across the street to get the full length of the range?

If there is a good Mon 'N Pop grill nearby we could always just shoot till our hearts are content and ride over there.
Or we could get someone to do a pizza run. would they mind if we scarf in the parking lot?

That's the name of the range it's a DNR range just like Boggy Head, Almost the same size to 100 yrd. And no you can't shoot from across the street this range is in the woods. Coolers are ok and I'm not sure about restaurants. The time will probably be around 11am but once I iron out the rest of the plans it might be adjusted.

From the forest service site: http://www.fs.fed.us/r8/fms/sumter/recr ... Ranges.php
Philson Crossroads Rifle Range, from I-26 in Laurens County
At Interstate 26 and Hwy. 56, drive north .5 miles. Turn right at Hwy. 56 and 44-22, Barrel Stave Rd, drive 3.9 miles. Turn right at 44-22 and State Highway S-30-26, Philson Rd. drive 0.4 miles. Turn left at Philson Rd and Forest Service Rd. 7009 and drive 0.2 miles to rifle range.

Ok we're gonna have to stand by for a bit till I find out something. The problems is DNR is planning upgrades on Indian Creek, Philson Crossroads and Leeds. A friend suggested I check out this thread on ARFCOM http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=8&f=34&t=417008 If you look on the second page you'll see. The pic is of Indian Creek and so far it's not sure which one they will go to next Philson or Leeds.

That could work and get in a little shooting too. The problem is which range DNR is gonna tear up when the time comes to hold this. I also spoke with Andy and he also thought Leeds was better and it's not far from Philsons either.

Oct 9 works for me. Let me know how I may be of assistance as I do not live far from these locations.
