hi guys. i have signed up to take the CWP class at sportsman inc in rock hill, on aug 28. i will be using my GSG 1911 .22 because i have yet to buy the keltec i want ( i might have it before the class, not sure yet). i have read on here that SC is using a private company to do the CWP now. does this mean that after i complete the class i have to go to this new place and do all that there? do i still have to wait 90 days?

also can someone tell me how the shooting will be scored? i was told as long as you are hitting the center of the target you will pass, is this true? thanks!

I'm sure someone will chime in. But, I believe that was nixed. Your CWP instructor will let you know what you need to do.

Scoring...you hit the target your O.K. I would ask them if they are O.K. with the 22 though.

Let me try to help you out....First...They cancelled the private company running the CCW stuff...

You can take the class with any type of pistol. Just remember, you need a side holster and a box of 50 rounds of ammo...

The scoring is: 50 rounds fired. At least 70% on target.

The test is not marksmanship as much as safe handling of the gun from a carry p[osition to a fire position, and while on the firing line...

Don't worry about the shooting score, and, to me...you would be good with the .22...

Hope this helps. This is what I learned a year ago when I took my class...

I went through it in June. Written test was surprisingly easy aside from some awkward wording. For shooting, 70% had to be on the paper of the target, not even in scoring range (we used the standard head and torso type). Still waiting on mine to arrive. I think I'd shot 3 times before the class and made 100% on the shooting. I'd no idea of the written test material and passed with ease. I'd suggest using whatever you're most comfortable with as some of the shooting test involved drawing from a holster and leaving the slide locked open. Good Luck.

just a note, the instructor may not allow certain firearms such as single action revolver or dareinger types. allso complete firearm must fit inside a 12inch circle
