So a guy at academy today was explaining to a customer that the Sig 250? is DAO, but that is really not a big deal because all sigs are DAO. Huh? I questioned him because he was being misleading (not my place, but I digress). So the guy proceeds to tell me that I am wrong, that all Sigs are DAO, and that function of trigger has nothing to do with DA/SA V. SA V. DAO and that it is all about where the trigger resets to. The fact that the slide action cocks the hammer has NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. I at this point realize I am talking to a brick wall and excuse myself from the conversation.

But,.... Really,... come on. Its sad to know this guy has probably sold hundreds of guns and doesn't even know the most basic of info. Sadder yet, he proceeded to tell me he was an ex cop and that he has shot everything out there and knows everything about everything especially 1911s. I paraphrase, of course, but its enough to give you one of those figurative migraines.

Try talking to some of the guys at Sportsman's Warehouse sometime. Lots of "Know-it-alls" there too.

My favorite was "You never want to shoot anyone with a .380. It won't penetrate their clothes."

My favorite is, I was a Cop/soldier/etc. Well I was a dinosaur for halloween when I was 8, but it doesn't mean that I know anything about the Jurassic period. By making the reference to being a Cop there is some assumption that because a policeman carries a gun he know everything about every type. You don't have to be a gun person to be a cop, just like you don't have to be a car person to drive a taxi, its just a tool, just part of the job.

I don't know everything, but I know more than a lot of people. I also know a lot less than a lot of people and try to be smart enough to shut my mouth when they talk so I can learn.

Very true...I am Military and even a Small Arms Instructor for the Navy but my knowledge base is pretty limited outside of Military weapons and getting guys up to speed from zero to shooting bad guys. -Shane

Don't say that to my 4 year old daughter. Last year she was a t-rex and this year she was a pteranodon. :D

You lost me at T-rex, haha. I better shape up before my boy gets into all the fun stuff. Right now he's focused on the sleep, poop, eat routine.

I like to tell the 'super sales guys" that its better for folks to think you're an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Try dealing exclusively in antiques and C&R guns. They just flat out lie. It's never rusty, that's got Nazi blood on it. It'll cost extra for that.

The other issue that gets me are half-experts that then try to correct your use of terminology. When I picked up a Garand years back I stopped at a table at the gunshow to ask for a clip for it. I was lectured about it being an en-bloc for a little too long so he didn't get my money. I probably should have told him that the en-bloc is a type of clip...

HAHAHA! How about when they tell you your new Glock comes with 3 clips. My dad was mad when he got it home to find 3 magazines, he thought he was buying rare Glock!

how true
I was looking at a yugo model 24/47 at a gun show. The brainiac selling it proudly announced that it was a WW II rifle and called me a jerk when I told him that it is in fact a post war rifle manufactured by Zastava.
