Bad ammunition in a 44 Magnum

.44 Magnum accident
First it was baby formula, then pet food, but now you should watch out when buying anything from China , including bright, shiny ammunition.
A guy came into the police department the other day to ask a favor.
He had a S&W 629 (.44 Mag) that he wanted to dispose of after a mishap at the range.

He said there was a loud bang when he tested his new ammo (Chinese made), and the gun smacked him in the forehead, leaving a nice gash.?
When the tweety birds cleared from around his head, the pictures show what he saw.

Bet he never uses Chinese made ammo again!

Looks like when the round in the chamber went off, it also set off at least two other rounds in adjacent cylinders.
I would have hated to been the one that pulled the trigger on that one!
A really good reason for not buying cheap ammunition !!
Or anything from China.? They are proving this statement to be true.
You get what you pay for.

Not that I'm a non-believer...but if the top on the gun blew off, how would you have barrel rise for it to hit you in the head? If anything, wouldn't this push the gun down?

This was an email that I got from a friend. I do not vouch for the text - I was just stunned by the photos & thought that others would be also.
If it was Chinese, Russian, American or homemade ammo was not as important to me as trying to picture in my mind the kind of force that would be required to do this!

It may be that the part of the gun that blew off hit him.
That I would believe, it had to go somewhere, up and rearwards kind of makes sense it seems to me the bore pressure would have pushed it back.

I bet he definitely caught chunks from that in the mush! That would make anyone think they got smacked in the face with the pistol!!!

In a situation like this, would the manufacturer of the ammunition be responsible for any damages caused by their faulty product? Also, it looks like that could be a functional handgun again with a new cylinder on it. I'd definitely keep that as a reminder about cheap ammo.

If anything hit him in the head, I bet it would have been the top of the cylinder. Still wondering how it destroyed the round on the OPPOSITE side of the cylinder.

That has made the rounds around the net. Lot of unknowns about that incident and little verified facts. I guess China is as good a place as any to blame.
