KING, N.C. -- Authorities lifted a curfew and alcohol restrictions in King on Sunday, but said a state of emergency declaration remained in effect until Monday.

Authorities said the state of emergency declaration would continue until Monday 9 a.m., barring any unforeseen circumstances or severe changes.

Effective Sunday afternoon, alcohol restrictions and a curfew were lifted. All other remaining restrictions would continue until Monday, said Paula May, King police chief.

Other restrictions include a ban on the sale or purchase of any type of firearm, ammunition, explosive or any possession of such items off a person's own premises.

Also on Sunday, the emergency shelter established by the American red Cross at West Stokes High School was closed.

"We appreciate the support and cooperation of everyone with our efforts to keep the citizens of King safe," May said.

The state of emergency was declared Friday due to severe weather.

Yup. State law from the Jim Crow days never taken off the books. Needs fixing as it pretty much stomps all over the US Constitution. I think the folks of that town were pretty pissed off and were threatening the female top cop about it.

NC has some very strange gun laws. And the people just keep electing the politicians who make them and enforce them. I think these people are called sheeple  Did ya know you have to ask the local sherrif permission to buy a handgun in NC

God knows, the Utah forum I frequent was all over it. "Is the constitution even good any more?!"

I was just curious.. then again I know southerners are a little more relaxed than the folks out here (or god forbid...up north :p ).

Vermont is the only state in the lower 48 that has true 2nd Amendment rights for the citizens of the state. No gun laws for the most part other than no Cans. I ponder how they have it so in such a libtard populated region.

I will say, Utah is pretty good about 2A rights. Open carry is legal without a permit ("unloaded" = needs to take 2 actions to fire. aka rack and pull trigger, or if a revolver, on an empty and next chamber empty as well), with a permit you can open or conceal damn near everywhere. School zones don't count if you have a permit also.

"Libtard" great word. Will be added to my limited vocabulary.I needed more words over 4 letters.
