WOW, why wasn?t this idea thought of before? Collectively I suppose our group has just been having too much fun.

Here in the Low Country we are holding a special GSSF Outdoor event just for the ladies on May 28-29. This match will operate just like a normal outdoor GSSF event (three stages) we are all accustomed too, except it is strictly for the ladies.

Prizes ? Glock has authorized normal prizes (pistols & money) concurrent with the level of participation.
Armorer ? Will also be available to check your firearms and answer any questions you might have during the match.

Ladies, if you?re not a member of GSSF it is required that you join (1 year $25.00). Applicable entry fees (25.00 advanced or $35.00 same day per entry) will apply also. Participants can enter into as many categories as they wish. You must have a Glock firearm to compete in this match.

GLOCK?s membership website can be reached here for any registration or first time shooters questions: http://www.gssfonline.com/registration.cfm
At the bottom of the page there is also a New Shooters Brief that you can browse through to get a better understanding of our sport.

This event will take place on the B.E.L.T. Training Facility in Dorchester County near Reevesville. The B.E.L.T. range owners James and Lisa Marie are highly qualified instructors and teach firearms skills and CWP courses. They strive to create an unforgettable training experience complete with pertinent and accurate information, in a climate controlled facility, with great food, southern hospitality and a beautiful view.

What better place to hold a GSSF match? What better way to spend some quality time with the best folks our Low Country has to offer?

The range is located in Dorchesther Co. SC on Bryan Branch Rd, Reevesville, SC. It is near the intersection of Bryan Branch Rd, and Edisto River Rd (County Rd S-18 695). There will be GSSF signs to follow from there.
The GPS Coordinates for the intersection are;

N 33' 8.346 W 080' 41.143 or 33.13912 - 80.686001

Great event never the less and Tommy & Lisa is a dear friend but it is nowhere near ridgeville. It is in Reevesville which is about 7 miles past St. George.

Do they allow observers? My daughter and I would like to watch, but don't want to intrude.
Yes, visitors are welcome. You will have to have ear and eye protection as well as sign a waiver.

Can you only shoot with Glock? I can't go, but I was just curious.
Yes, you have to have a Glock firearm to compete. You could borow one if you could.
And, you have to be a member of GSSF.

I actually just picked up a Glock yesterday. But I can't shoot for at least 3 more months, as I just hit my third trimester. Will this event be happening again later this summer?

Congratulations!
This event is being held as a trial event and is the first. It may very well catch on I believe and become another venue for women to compete but I don't know for now.

I understood Lisa Marie told me that Glock would have Glocks for use during the shoot?

Is that correct?

That is correct you must shoot a GLOCK in the match but if the Ladies don't own one, they can use one of mine or they can use one of the stock GLOCKs that the Match Coordinator from GLOCK is bringing.

Well, we had a blast with about 105 contestants!
Range set up Friday was hot, Saturday was hot, and Sunday was cooler, I think, but hot!

Overall it was a hoot with double the number of entries we expected. Folks for FL, NJ and TX attended. B.E.L.T. Range auctioned off a 17 and the proceeds went to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Had plenty of help on Sat. but was a little short Sun. We eat BBQ (on the houe) for lunch both days, can ya ask for better? GLOCK brought out guns for those to try if they didn't own a Glock. First time shoots got lots of instruction on gun handling and safety. It was more like a party!

Yea, we had a few issues too, doesn't everyone? Shooters we friendly and safe. Once the RO's got up to speed the match smoothly too!

LisaMarie and Tommy were great host. and I keep getting asked, "When will the next one be?" Don't know yet, we all have to hold onto our hats and wait an see.

Lisa did put some pictures up on her Facebook site.https://www.facebook.com/friends/edit/#!/media/set/?set=a.2047538185593.119103.1158592151

So Sorry I havent posted anything sooner........ I have been VERY under the weather!

The whole goal was to get more women involved in sport shooting and I think we far exceeded that goal! Everyone seemed to have a blast and GLOCK's feedback has been positive and proud. If the largest GSSF Match in the country had 800+ entries and only 30 of them were women, but this event brought in 105 entries.... someone is missing the mark! Women spend the money and where the women go the children will follow! Just Say'in!
