Thanks to all for the suggestion to attend the B.E.L.T. CWP training/qualification class.
I signed my wife and myself for the class yesterday and made the early morning trip to their training facility.
It was well worth our time and money to take the class.
I will try and boil it down for you from my newly-married perspective.
The instructors and students kept a positive, professional attitude where we all felt comfortable asking questions. Comfy chairs were a plus since there was a fair amount of classroom discussion. The classroom was stocked with coffee, water, soda and snack crackers. Plenty to keep you comfortable until the homemade lunch came out.
As an aside, lunch before going shooting is genius. Everyone was filled and at ease when it was time to get behind the trigger.
Instructors were properly accredited if you ask me, and they provided enough RSOs to keep a good instructor:student ratio on the range.
For married folk: I am very glad I spent the funds to get us into the course. My wife and I were able to sit next to one another all class long and enjoy it. But when we got to the range we were separated....a definite plus. I am an accomplished shooter and my wife was just knocking off the rust. She was in capable hands and didn't have to deal with her hubby telling her what to do. And for me, I could just focus on my shooting that much more.
Even better was when Lisa came to tell me that my wife was doing great and having a good time. She went from not having shot in almost 2 years, to getting all 50 shots on the IDPA target

Final call: Worth the money, worth driving almost 2 hours for, good people, good instructors, good food -- Two thumbs up for this homegrown mom n' pop weapons training
