So I was asking someone in the know about the velocity I'm getting through my 10.5" 6.8 AR.
I only cronographed a few rounds but they where all over 2500fps with 115gr OTM tactical load.
I was told I have some really HOT ammo or the chrony was messing up. Was told I should expect about 2300fps with my 10.5 and that he gets 2475fps with his 14.7" barrel. So now I'm not sure what to think. There are no signs of overpressure on the casings as far as I can tell and I believe the chrony was working fine.
Guess I just need to shoot it again and see what happens.
Oh Yeah, Thanks to clicker for the loaning me one of his reloading presses. Hope to get some dies that I need and start reloading soon.

I think we both (M16MANIAC & I) know the chronograph is GTG based on other ammo test results.

Now if I could just swipe that scope off the gun w/o him noticing my 300 BLK would be hunt ready!

Clicker I keep a close eye on this one it's my favorite. I checked SSA's site and they list velocity at 2575fps and I think that is with a 16" barrel.

After more closely checking my brass the primers look a little flat and there is a slight ring around the casing about 1/4" up rom the base. Maybe I should not shoot anymore of these rounds? :?

You don't see a mark from the ejector plunger on the case do you?

I wouldn't sweat the primer being a little flattened, I've seen that on heavy loads. As long as there is a bit of a radius left at the edge of the primer I think you're OK.

The ring is something to check however and I'd run a dental pick or a wire with a 90? hook on it down inside the case. You want to feel for any separation, thinning or cracks area at that area.

I don't see any marks from the ejector and I believe SSA went to softer primers due to people using light match triggers.
