I like the idea of the 6.5 just never got up the courage to build one - so how does it shoot?
You've hooked me at least so give us the details on your build.

I like....I have thought about a 6.8...but...I don't reload so that is a pretty expensive round...

Thanks yall. There's a very small increase in recoil over 223. Report is noticeably louder. It's only got half a box through it. No comments on accuracy yet, sighted in a cheap scope at 100yds (just to have it functional) running a brush and mop between each round. Ammo is a concern for me as well, I don't reload-yet. If I wasn't attached to it, I'd trade for a AR-10/308. Finish is plain 'ol krylon.

I just traded for an S&W AR with a 7.62x39 upper. It has the 20" bbl., but, not the SS barrel like yours.
It is a lot of fun to shoot. With open sights, I was rolling a drink can at 100 yards..

I have had a few problems with FTF, but, have finally got it figured out. It doesn't like military surplus ammo, but, loves Russian Silver Bear ammo. That is real cheap, so I can have fun for a few bucks.

As I said, I really thought about the 6.8, but, am glad I went with the 7.62x39..
Hope you can make Shootzenfest, and bring that bad guy...I would love to look it over...
