    Ten Years of Cowboy Shooting

January 2010 was my first cowboy action shooting match with the Greenville (SC) Gunfighters. That makes the match on Sunday January 26 something of a milestone. I received a warm welcome as “the new guy” ten years ago. I try to “pay it forward” with new shooters and visitors. Looking forward...

Richard, any interest in cowboy action shooting? There are two SASS clubs that hold monthly matches at the Mid Carolina Rifle Club near Gaston which should be less than an hour from you. The next match will be the Savannah River Rangers this coming Sunday. Visitors are always welcome at...

    2019 Christmas Match (Cowboy Action)

Saturday’s forecast is 60 degrees and partly sunny, pretty good for early December. I understand we have a good number of shooters registered; it has always been a fun match. Renewing the invitation to come hang out and see how the game is played.

SC State Cowboy Match Sept. 26-29, 2019

I posted the thread on September 16, about ten days before the match began. If you are interested in attending a match, great! There are six clubs in SC that hold monthly matches. The Palmetto Posse shoots this Saturday.

SC State Cowboy Match Sept. 26-29, 2019

I looked at the forecast; weather wise it looks like a repeat of last year’s State Match. At least I’ll be shooting in the afternoon on Saturday. Black powder smoke, humidity and morning sun is an unfavorable combination.

    Cowboy Action in Upstate SC

We’ve had slightly lower temperature and humidity this week that should continue into the weekend for the Greenville Gunfighters’ match on Sunday, July 28. I’m switching back to “Frontier Cartridge” category which adds to the fun and the challenge. The SC State Match will be held at the...

    Cowboy Action Shooting in Belton

I just got word that the June match is off. Expecting heavy rain all weekend. Too bad, there would have been several people getting in one more local match before the World Championships in New Mexico. And yes, we have local shooters who have won world championships in their category.

Wild Bunch match in Greenville on June 23, 2019

We are planning a five Stage Wild Bunch match which will be at the same time as the monthly cowboy Action match. We will be on separate bays from the cowboy shooters. We do it right because “Wild Bunch is not cowboy shooting with a 1911”.

    Cowboy Action Shooting in Belton

The Belton Bushwhackers’ April and May matches were called off due to bad weather forecasts but “third time’s a charm” and I’m looking forward to shooting the next match on Saturday June 8.
